8 June 2000 - 6:28pm
The North Hollywood station opened on Wednesday for a media preview event and demonstration.
Opening officially on the weekend of June 24-25, Thursday's preview opening of the North Hollywood Metro Red Line station promotes the NoHo International Theatre & Arts Festival planned for the same weekend. Although some are doubtful of its demand, many Valley residents are looking forward to the shorter commute-time to downtown Los Angeles. Proponents expect the new station to revitalize the economy in the North Hollywood area.
