Troublesome Traffic Intersection: A Tangle Or A Trademark?
10 June 2003 - 2:00pm
The Florida Department of Transportation calls Wilton Manors's 'Five Points' intersection a troublesome traffic spot that needs fixing, but the proposed solution has residents fuming.
This isn't the first time state traffic planners have tried to untangle one of Broward County's most befuddled sets of street corners. The transportation department first suggested a four-way crossing more than a decade ago, but angry residents and business owners squashed the idea. Now state officials are trying again. The Wilton Manors Historical Society, fed up with the state's push for change, is asking the city to designate Five Points a landmark.
