Too Decentralized For Light Rail?

Light rail proponents say Orange County's projected growth will turn the freeways into "crawlways." But is light rail the right solution?
"If the trend holds, it appears that Irvine voters like the idea of light rail, but not the proposed CenterLine route in their city...Irvine's vote on the proposed CenterLine project is considered an important gauge of the acceptance of light rail in Orange County...Orange County is projected to add 600,000 new residents by 2020 and 450,000 new jobs. Without rail, backers say, the county's freeways will turn into crawlways...But opponents say the county is too decentralized for rail to be successful."
