Curitba-Style Busway Along LA's Wilshire Blvd Rejected
5 June 2000 - 4:06am
LA City Council votes 11 to 1 to have Metropolitan Transportation Agency halt plans for a dedicated busway
Opponents of the plan, which is based on the Curitiba, Brazil-style dedicated busway, would require major construction in the middle of Wilshire Blvd. The busway would run from Western through Beverly Hills, and Santa Monica. The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Agency plans to complete a draft EIF of the concept and make a decision by spring, 2001.
