New LA Subway Extension Will Draw Tourists

Coalition of local tourism groups predict economic boon when three new Hollywood Red Line stations open June 24.
The recently completed 6.3 mile Red Line extension will allow visitors to get from Universal Studios to Hollywood, two of the most visited tourist destinations. Local tourism marketers are creating tourist subway packages. Planners predict that LA's downtown convention goers will be more likely to visit other attractions if they don't need a car. But with the subway's controversial history, hotels and tourist attractions are waiting to see what materializes.
