Miami Takes Action Against Illegal Homes

Miami mayor Manny Diaz is closing down illegal housing as part of his campaign to revitalize the city.
"Thousands of people in the city of Miami live like Morales, in homes absentee landlords have illegally converted into mini-motels, turning them into lucrative businesses...But now, after decades of the city turning a blind eye to the problem, Mayor Manny Diaz is engineering a serious crackdown on illegal units and crumbling homes.He said he is taking the matter seriously, even though it's a politically unpopular move, because he wants to clean up decaying parts of the city...The crackdown comes as part of Diaz's attempt to revitalize a city that suffered for years from financial problems and a reputation for corruption and strife."
