We are looking for an Associate Urban Planner to join the leadership of our Integrated Planning team in Arup’s New York Office. You will join the leadership of a dynamic team of urban and transport planners with a focus on identifying and delivering innovative planning opportunities for a range of client types including Government, Transport Agencies, Architects, Urban Design Consultants and Private Developers locally and internationally.
You will be responsible for the management of staff and projects in the fields of urban and transport planning. It is our expectation you will understand the interrelationships between land use, transportation, and urban design, and have experience devising innovative design strategies and solutions that are grounded in technical analysis. You will manage a wide variety of projects including streetscape improvement plans, sustainability and urban design guidelines, revitalization plans and transportation master plans, amongst others. Your role will support the Integrated Planning Leader and provide day-to-day supervision for team members with responsibility for workflow, formal supervision of staff, team and project finances and identifying and winning future work.
The team combines a range of planning, design and analytical skills in areas such as urban planning, urban design, transport planning, site and master planning, transport and pedestrian modeling, station planning and wayfinding, among others. We work on unique, highly complex projects that require integrated working with other disciplines both within and external to Arup – consequently, excellent communication skills are required.
The ideal candidate will share our passion for creating great places and achieving sustainable planning outcomes that help ‘shape a better world’. The candidate should have a minimum 8 years of experience and a track record of identifying and winning new work and will have a strong background and understanding of the US planning system and will be familiar with the North-East US markets, including New York.
