Transportation Planning Manager

The Transportation Planning Manager plans, organizes, and manages the activities and staff engaged in transit planning functions. The manager collaborates with external agencies on planning projects and coordinates with District management for the optimal utilization of internal assets, considering long and short term service priorities and plans.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
•Manages long and short range service planning or grants projects with external agencies and the public; acts as the District’s spokesperson.
•Manages the timely creation of complex reports on activities and statistical projects, and presents reports and studies to District management and the Board of Directors.
•Oversees the analysis and preparation of recommendations on short and long range transit service trends and needs, regulatory policies and requirements, resource needs, environmental impacts and financial requirements.
•Manages a department within the District’s transit planning functions, including work plans & consultants assigned to projects, and develops, evaluates and oversees the work of management, professional and administrative support staff.
•Prepares and/or reviews scopes of work, cost estimates, and other procurement related documents; coordinates procurement activities with the Purchasing Department, & participates in technical reviews of proposals and statements of qualifications.
•Performs related duties as required
Education: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in city and regional planning, transportation planning, business or public administration, urban studies, economics, finance, political science, geography, or a related field.
Experience: Equivalent to at least six (6) years of increasingly responsible professional level experience in service development and transportation planning and management including a minimum of three (3) years in a supervisory role, or in a project-lead capacity that involved supervising subordinate employees and consultants.
