Irvin Dawid is a long-time Sierra Club activist, having worked in transportation, land use, and now air quality. His interest in smart growth led him to San Jose State University, where he completed his coursework in the Urban & Regional Planning graduate program in 2003.
Hailing from Queens and Long Island, New York, he feels comfortable on the San Francisco peninsula, where he commutes to the Sierra Club headquarters in San Francisco from Palo Alto on Caltrain and MUNI. He has begun a legislative advocate internship with the Oakland-based Transportation and Land Use Coalition, where he will focus on transportation revenue-related legislation. Since 2003, Irvin has served as a representative from the environmental community on the Advisory Council of the Bay Area Air Quality Management District.
